Small Red-eyed Damselfly - male

Considerably smaller (29mm) than the larger Red-eyed and not as widespread. although can reach large numbers where found. Preferring warm, shallow pools with emergent vegetation.

Males are usually seen perched as above on emergent vegetation, leaf litter, mosses etc. Females are usually seen in tandem with the male as they oviposit.

Can be found some distance from water when maturing.
