A large (38mm) and attractive metallic green damselfly which unusually perches with its wings half-open.

The male develops a blue pruinescence on segments 1, 2, 9 and 10 as it matures.
Females are thicker bodied with no blue pruinescence.

Relatively widespread. Usually found alongside Small Red and Black Darter.
