Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost

A medium-sized (44-49mm) dragonfly found at many man-made open water such as parks, gravel pits and quarries. Usually in large numbers.

Males are normally encountered perched upon the shoreline on concrete, gravel or other warm surfaces. In flight they are fast, aggressive and unpredictable.

The females visit water to oviposit and can often be found in the foliage surrounding the water or in meadows, woods and clearings.

Mating is brief and usually takes place on the wing
