Obelisk
A small (29-34mm) moorland dragonfly found in peat moss and heaths, breeding in ponds, bog pools and drainage ditches. Can be found in large numbers locally.

Males patrol low over water, perching frequently on a favourite vantage point from which they rise to drive off rivals or pursue females. Frequently found roosting in large numbers among the heather on lowland heaths.

Females can also be found roosting along with males, visiting water to oviposit in moss, mud and plant debris.
